Bruce and Dick were not brothers. They were good friends in Mr. Robert's class at school. Dick was a good pupil, and he enjoyed his lessons. Bruce was well, Bruce was different.
One day Mr. Robert said to the class: "Write a little story in English. Here's the name of the story." He wrote "The Brothers ' Farm" on the blackboard. "It's homework," he said. "I'll see it tomorrow. "
The next morning Dick gave this stow to Mr. Robert.
Once upon a time (从前) two brothers lived on a farm. They GREw fruit and vegetables in their field. They looked after their cow, too, and she gave them milk. They also had a cat and some hens. The hens gave them eggs every day.
Mr. Robert wrote at the bottom (底部): Very good! Ten out of ten (10分,满分).
Bruce also gave his homework book to the teacher. Here is Bruce's story:
Fruit trees GREw in the field, and some vegetables too. They had one cow, and they milked her every, evening. They got eggs from their hens. Their cat gave them a lot of pretty kittens (小猫).
"Well done, Brace! " Mr. Robert wrote. "You've begun to learn. Ten out of ten."
On the playground, Bruce said to Dick: "Thanks very much. I've never got ten out of ten before. I won' t forget this. "
"It's nothing," said Dick, "I wrote a few different words in a different way. Forget it."
