Life Along the Nile River

In ancient times, the Nile flooded every year between July and September. The floodedwaters spread silt, a mixture of tiny bits of soil and rock,over the land around the river. Water and silt turned dry land into good farmland.
Today, most people in Egypt still live along or near the Nile. Many boats still travel along the river.But now some are cruise ships filled with tourists. Others are freighters carrying crops or oil. You can also see feluccas . They are long, narrow boats They were used long ago and are sill used today.
