(二)关系副词的用法

关系副词在定语从句中只能做状语。

1.when在从句中做时间状语,其先行词是表示“时间”的词。

I shall never forget the day when I joined the League.我永远不会忘记我入团的那一天。

The PLA men come at the time when the people need them most.

解放军战士在人们最需要的时刻来到。

2.where在从句中做地点状语,其先行词是表示“地点”的词。

Do you still remember the place where we first met?

你还记得我们初次见面的地方吗?

Have you been to the small town where you were born?

你去过你所出生的那个小城吗?

3.why在从句中起原因状语的作用,先行词是reason (原因)。

Nobody knows the reason why he is often late for school.

没人知道他上学总迟到的原因。

The reason why you can't study English well is your laziness.

你不能学好英语的原因就是你的懒惰
