Everyday when passing the playground,I see the freshmen having their military training and the familiar training ground. Then I would recall the days when I became a cadet luckily .In those days, besides the excitem ent and pleasure,we also had the most
important thing—military training for 3 months. To my surprise, the trainers were senior students. How time flied!Three months later we became qualified cadets.Of course,we owed a lot to the senior students and our trainers.
However, just few months ago,the graduates were going to leave us.The message was announced by our team leader before supper. On hearing this news,I didn't raise my head,so that the face bathed in tears would not be seen by others. The stifling atm osphere was sm ashed by the sob of the girl students.I can distinctly remember those red and swollen eyes.
That night when they were leaving, the bus was crowded with the people who went to see them off.The scenes we had together appeared in m y mind one by one:the military training, the sharp solemnity to us,the angry rebukes, the explanations, the direc- tions given with patience;the loving, the earnest teachings, the gam es we played like the brothers, the sincere words and wishes to us...all of them im agined like a mon-tage in my mind and projected in the half-moon which had hidden behind the cloud. The breeze was blowing gently, which had increased the sentim ent in my heart.
Some beautiful lines by Xu Zhimo“Wave Good-bye to Cambridge”occurred tome:
Quietly,quietly I will depart,
Quietly as I came round after my heart,
I will wave farewell with my sleeve,
Taking none of the pink clouds when I leave...
Xu Zhimo's sadness at parting was sentimentally attached to Cambridge. Com pared with it,the sadness at parting of the cadets was the deep friendship between us who were tem pered in the special life furnace—military camp. Our lives in the fu- ture may be heroic,or magnificent,or brave, but the tears and laughters in the days we stayed together will be the most splendid and stable in our memory.
Scene after scene of the Graduates Evening Party reappeared in my mind:when we bathed in the song named“Saying Good-bye to our Homeland”with sobs, the party was going to end and theatre curtains were closing. On seeing this, all the graduates on the stage couldn't help pushing away the curtains, again and again.I can't remember how many times they repeated that action but I distinctly remem ber tears had blured their vision.Without prior consultation, all of us,both on stage and under it, sang the song“Meeting is a Song”together:“You have told me that meeting is a song. It's you and I that have marched together.Soul is the young sun, sincerely andlively...”
Well, there is no need to enumerate too many words. It's better to express my bless in the simple words:Be on your way, soldiers!
