穆铁柱（1949——2008），1949年出生于山东省东明县。中国国家队前主力中锋，身高2米28，体重160公斤，鞋52码。作为上个世纪七八十年代中国篮球的顶梁柱，自1972年参加中国人民解放军，入济南军区代表队，在20年的篮球运动生涯中，获得了无数的荣誉，同时在那个时代也被誉为了“亚洲第一篮球中锋”，在当时成为了篮坛的“巨无霸”，更曾是中国篮球界的神话。 2008年9月14日上午10点45分，因心脏病医治无效在北京逝世，享年59岁。

他进攻腹地具有强大威胁，善于同外线队员做策应配合，为内外进攻创造投篮时机，具有单手握球远传和单手握球作传、投假动作的能力，多次代表解放军队和国家队参加国际比赛，是第九、第十、第十一届亚洲篮球锦标赛中国队的主力中锋，曾代表“八一”队参加世界俱乐部锦标赛获亚洲区冠军，是“八一”男篮两胜美国大学生明星队的内线实力人物。
1999年被选为新中国篮球运动50杰之一。
在他的带领下，中国篮球夺得了第一个亚运会冠军的头衔，他当时效力的“八一”队也成为了当时中国篮坛的“独孤求败”。穆铁柱带领当时的“八一”队在1979年两胜来访的美国大学生联队，在当时引起了世界的瞩目。
